MTB Function
Nothing has been left to chance on this product. The jacket incorporates stretch panelling where you need it most for ease of movement, while backpack compatible venting ensures that airflow around the body isn’t compromised when wearing a pack. All zippers highly rain-resistant, and the lift pass pocket in the sleeve adds to the jackets versatility.

ExoShell40DR™
The fabric at the heart of the killer new MT500 waterproof collection boasts the same category leading breathability and waterproof ratings as the standard ExoShell40 but with the durability (DR) dialled up to tackle the harshest mountain terrain. A tough, durable outer layer is laminated with a soft touch, high wicking mesh inner layer that efficiently moves moisture away from your skin and through the super fine fluorine free membrane sandwiched in the middle. As with all of Endura's waterproofs, ExoShell40DR™ is treated with an environmentally friendly PFC free DWR treatment. This fabric is also certified as having been made in a way that eliminates harmful substances from the supply chain; ensuring that products are safe for consumers, workers and the environment. This means that the only trace you will leave on the mountain is the tracks from your tyres.

Great, but a few niggling issues

First the positives. Beautiful sewing. Shoulders are cut supremely comfortably. A Fortress of Solitude in bad weather (Superman eat your heart out). Good venting. Easy to stay comfy in cold weather. I've worn this on rides close to freezing with snow and wind. Paired with a Rab Alpha Flash jacket I can vent and stay warm without overheating. The jacket is well enough cut to wear with my back country ski pack and climbing harness, even though this wasn't probably part of the design process. I haven't tested this in warm rain yet so I'll have to see if I can still dump enough heat. So what are the niggling little issues that prevent a 5. The first is the hood which can't be secured out of the way on your neck when you don't need it over your helmet. The wind can catch it quite easily. There's lots of times that you'll want the jacket without the hood being used. A little clip or tab would work here. If you're wearing it for non cycling use, the hood is too big and the current adjustments are not sufficient to allow the hood to be pulled back from the face to allow good vision. I can just manage with the overly large visor tucked up or inside. An adjustment cord going further up the back of the hood would allow this to be corrected (similar to my Arcteryx hood which is not as large, but can still cover a helmet while being comfy and streamlined when not using a helmet). The final niggle is the somewhat tight wrist cuffs. While generally OK with the sleeves down, they are too tight to pull up and over the elbows. I do that to dump heat while maintaining core protection, even in the rain. The elbow issue is minor and I may be the only one to even find it to be of concern. The hood issues are more important though and could use some tweaking. Riding 1500 miles in the UK next summer which should be good test.

Awesome Waterproof & Breathable Jacket

Have spent a day in non stop rain at bike park wales in this jacket and it was great! Huge vents under the arms for breathability. The vent zips under the arms can be a little fussy/ awkward but you dont need to keep adjusting them. Subtle / smart enough to wear off the bike as a good quality jacket. I bought mine with a club discount but Im actually looking to get one in another colour as Im sure they will last for years.
